Formerly known as Sour Owls because of the owl on the left hand side of the artwork tasting the lemon… we have changed the name to Plastic Bag Detox. The background design is romaine lettuce and the main artwork features the owls and fruits. This is one of our most popular bags and is available in Natural and Khaki colored bags.
Why Plastic Bag Detox? Our society has been addicted to plastic bags at the stores, malls, restaurants, etc. It's time to stop our addictions and go “cold turkey”. We need to detoxify our system and the environment of plastic single-use bags.
Did you know that a plastic bag is used for approximately less than 5-20 minutes and then is thrown out into a landfill/trash? This bag will not biodegrade, but rather photo degrade. This means that over thousands of years plastic bags will slowly emit toxins into our soil, seas, drains, etc. basically poisoning us, our eco-systems and the wildlife.
Things have been so bad that there’s a plastic bag island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (between San Francisco and Hawaii) called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is now twice the size of Texas… how sad. Take a look at it on the Internet, it's pretty disturbing.
However, enough negativity... there’s a positive solution… in order to stop the growth, addition and creation of new such patches, it's time for all of us to bring our own canvas bags (not polypropene bags that are reusable, but worse for the environment than regular plastic bags!!!). Thus, bring your own canvas bag to the store, shop, etc. and detoxify yourself and the environment of plastic bags! J
